Lying on the couch yesterday with a sore throat and a voice so low I could take over as the lead singer for the Crash Test Dummies, I took a break from Netflix binge-watching to start my commonplace book.
“Commonplace books (or commonplaces) are personal notebooks used to compile any information the owner finds interesting or useful. They can variously contain notes, proverbs, adages, aphorisms, maxims, recipes, quotes, letters, poems, tables of weights and measures, prayers, legal formulas, and other professional references.” (Wikipedia)
I have long collected quotes and scraps of poetry that inspire me. They live on my phone, on pages of various journals, and on pages of my planner. I love the idea of having them in one place. At some point I dream of collaging the front cover of the book as well, because this isn’t cute and collaging is fun.
Here are some of the quotes and poetry that made it onto the first pages of my commonplace book.
What would you put in your commonplace book?
