I am writing to you from a chaos vortex (somewhat) of my own making. In the midst of parenting two teenagers who seem to need 20% more attention and time than I ever actually have, at the exact same moment…

It is municipal election season, folks. Big excitement, am I right?

This week, the final episode of Make Like a Mother is out, featuring my conversation with Trish Dryden and Janita Wiersma - two people I could listen to talk for days. We had this chat live in front of an…

I had all my usual intentions to sit down and write today, and alas, it is 9:20pm and my best laid plans and I are sitting here giving each other the side-eye. Summer has arrived at my house this week…

I have secretly always wanted to dance. When I was five I told my mom I wanted to try figure skating. She suggested I try hockey instead. No shade to my mom, because hockey is still a massive passion of…

I am singing in a vocal group again after several years’ hiatus. God, I missed it. Plainville United scratches that itch really well, but we only have one or two shows per year and don’t meet regularly otherwise. This new…

On the weekend I was invited to present at the second annual Port Hope Sustainability Expo. I got very excited about the topic I had chosen to share, and the fire it lit in my belly is still burning today…

I spent last night scrolling the Work in Culture job board, feeling simultaneously over- and under-whelmed by the nebulous, hard to define nature of my career. I was scrolling the way I sometimes shop online, putting items into my cart…

Make Like a Mother, my new adventure in podcasting, is about to be released into the world - and I want to tell you all about it!

I am feeling the first, hard-to-ignore signs of perimenopause knocking on my door. A few have already let themselves in and settled on the couch. The most prominent symptoms for me at this time are brain fog/lack of memory and…

There are basically two drivers in me when it comes to my creative work - one is my ego and the other is my curiosity. I spend an inordinate amount of time grappling with the balance between these two drivers…
